About Phil

Phil Chisholm earned a degree in political science from Drew University, where he studied many subjects in history as well.

He's been to Scotland three times now, most recently in September of 2000, hiking Monroes (Scottish slang for the word "mountain") with his wife Jeannie on their honeymoon.

Phil describes Strathglass, part of Glen Affric, as a magical place filled with history. His favorite moment was sitting in the parlor of Comar House, a private home down the road from Erchless Castle, at the invitation of the owner at the time. Comar house was the residence of many Clan Chisholm Chiefs and where Mary persuaded her father Chief Alexander Chisholm to allow the people to stay on their farms. Surrounded by hills in that glen, history becomes very real in Strathglass.
