About James
Jim Fitz-Gerald’s great-grandfather, Frank Alexander Chisholm migrated from Prince Edward Island, Canada, with his parents and siblings shortly after the turn of the century. When the rest of the family up and migrated to the Alberta province with hopes of returning to farming, Frank Alexander elected to stay in Dedham and there raise up a family. Jim’s grandmother, Mary Caroline Chisholm had told stories about life on what the locals referred to for many years as “Chisholm’s Hill.”
Jim, the second of seven children, completed a Coast Guard military career as a Chief Warrant Officer in the Electronics specialty in 2001. During that career, he obtained degrees in Electronics Technology and Computer Networking. Since retiring, Jim has returned to work for the Coast Guard as a civilian in the field of Information Technology and has completed a master’s program in Computer Information Systems.
Jim lives with his lovely bride, Lily, in Waldorf, Maryland. Between them, they have seven children ranging in ages from fourteen to thirty-nine.
Jim became a member of the Clan Chisholm Society in the year 2001. During the summer of 2004, Jim drafted and proposed a Genealogy Project Charter, which was reviewed by all Branch Genealogists, and officially approved by the Society's Clan Council. On December 10, 2004, Society President Merritt Chisholm announced Jim Fitz-Gerald's appointment to the Society's Clan Council as Honorary International Genealogical Database Coordinator.
